Winnie our 2008 EZ-GO Beachy Make Over

From Lumberyard Workhorse to Olsen Cruiser: Our EZ-GO Beachy Glow-Up

When we first got our hands on this 2008 EZ-GO golf cart, it had already lived a full life. It had been hauling supplies and running errands around the Lumberyard — a lively eatery and concert venue located in Canyon TX with stories baked into every scratch and dent. But with a little vision (and a lot of elbow grease), we knew this old workhorse still had plenty of life left — just with a new vibe.

The transformation started with addressing years of wear. We patched dings, filled in scratches, and gave it a clean slate. Then came the fun part: a fresh coat of soft coastal blue paint that instantly made the whole thing feel lighter. To warm it up and give it that retro charm, we added light wood trim accents that nod to vintage surf wagons and classic beach cruisers.

We also reupholstered the seats in a soft two-tone cream and tan combo — a subtle upgrade that adds just the right touch of beachy luxury without trying too hard.

I had viewed a cart on pinterest that I love the wood grain accent . I found a place that maybe carries it but it was $200.

Trying to not spend a ton of money on this makeover got my wheels turning. I figured I could get a similar look with reg wood trim from home depot.

An even better option presented its self when I found wood looking plastic trim!

I used this double sided tape to attach it. I used an x-atco knife to just cut along the edge.

She’s officially been named Winnie, and now she feels right at home cruising through our 1960s mid-century modern neighborhood, Olsen — where breeze blocks and butterfly roofs meet lazy evening joyrides.

Sure, we wish we were zipping down a beachside boardwalk somewhere, salty hair and all. But for now, the kids are happily cruising the neighborhood streets, waving at neighbors like they’re on parade. And honestly? That’s a pretty sweet vibe, too.
